The British Society for the History of Science seeks a new postgraduate representative on its governing Council. This is a great opportunity to shape how the Society addresses the needs of the global postgraduate HSTM community, and through it, the future of HSTM.

The role involves being the primary point of contact for postgraduates within the Society and acting as a liaison between the BSHS Ambassadors (postgraduate representatives at an institutional level) and Council. It involves promoting the Society’s opportunities to the postgraduate community via the Ambassadors and bringing postgraduate-specific topics and issues to the Society’s Council. As part of Council, you will participate in decisions relating to running the Society and have the opportunity to put forward your own ideas.

The BSHS hugely values the input of its postgraduate members and aims to enable and equip their creative and intellectual enterprise – as recently evidenced in the BSHS Twitter Conference, the Postgraduate Hub on the BSHS website, and the directive participation of postgraduates in the BSHS Global Digital Festival.

To apply, please send a short CV and cover letter (1 side) explaining your hopes for the role to the BSHS Executive Secretary, office@bshs.org.uk

Applications are welcome from HSTM postgraduates in any country.  The deadline to receive them is Friday 12 February 2021.  Informal inquiries about the role can be addressed either to BSHS President Charlotte Sleigh at c.sleigh@ucl.ac.uk or to incumbent BSHS postgraduate representative Jemma Houghton at postgradrep@bshs.org.uk.
