2020 is set to be huge year for the BSHS, as we plan three conferences and the awarding of several grants and prizes.
Conferences
In February, we’ll be making our first foray into digital conferencing with our Global Histories Twitter Conference (Wednesday 12th February) before heading to Leeds in Spring for our Postgraduate Conference (1st – 3rd April) and Aberystwyth in Summer for the return of our Annual Conference (8th – 11th July)
Prizes
Nominations are currently open for three of our prestigious prizes: the 2019 Ayrton Prize for web projects and digital engagement(deadline Monday 6th January 2020); the 2020 Pickstone Prize for the best scholarly book in the History of Science (deadline Friday 31st January 2020); and the 2020 Singer Prize for an outstanding research essay by a recent entrant into the profession (deadline Thursday 30th April 2020). We’re also currently judging the 2019 Hughes Prize for the best popular book in the History of Science – you can read more about the five shortlisted books here.
Outreach and Engagement
Our Outreach and Engagement Committee will continue to support public engagement and events promoting the understanding of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, including through their regular Project Grants and Engagement Fellowships – keep your eyes peeled for announcements about opportunities for funding in 2020.
